Which filmmaker will take an angel with a crystal heart from Opava? It will be decided on Thursday

Already on Thursday (October 14) it will be clear who will win the Grand Prix for the best documentary film from the ninth year of the international competition festival T-film 2021. The gala evening with the announcement of the winning films will take place with the participation of authors and guests on October 14 from 18:00 in the Opava Church of St. Wenceslas.

This year, 62 filmmakers from all over the world (eg Germany, Belgium, Spain, Estonia or the USA) entered their films, which were mostly created during the coronavirus pandemic, and domestic production was strongly represented. The winners in the individual categories and the absolute winner will be decided by an international expert jury, which also includes directors Dušan Rapoš and Vladimír Mráz.

The president of the festival this year is the psychiatrist Jan Cimický, who was already at the birth of the festival. "Our lives are going through various ups and downs in the past covid year especially. And it is the film that can not only record time, but also please caress. I believe that this will be the case with T-film this time as well, "said Jan Cimický.

Those interested can visit the accompanying program in the week from 11 to 14 October at the Silesian Museum in the Petr Bezruč Memorial on Ostrožná Street, the Mini Cinema Café on Kostelní Street in Ostrava or at the ART Club in Opava on Ostrožná Street. There are films from the final fifteen, discussions with director Martin Petrásk, Pavel Michalik or Tereza Vokata, as well as a lecture by Marek Kolasa from the Ostrava Planetarium. You can find a detailed program at http://www.t-film.cz/program/.

The competition films will be screened until the end of October in primary and secondary schools in the Moravian-Silesian Region, for example at Mendel Grammar School in Opava, Hello Primary School in Ostrava-Poruba, E. Beneš Primary School in Opava, Vrchlický Primary School in Ostrava or Těrlicko Primary School . „Films that clearly show children life and its problems as well as their solutions, scientific progress or inspiration for the protection of cultural heritage are a welcome addition to teaching,“ says Jiří Jekl, director of Těrlicko Elementary School. Among others, directors Tereza Vokatá, Michael Kaboš, Michal Gálik and psychiatrist Jan Cimický will discuss with pupils and students in schools. This year, the T-film International Film Festival 2021 presents documentaries on the following topics: protection of traditions and cultural heritage, space, environmental, social, talent development and support for the gifted. There are also a few animated films each year. „Every year, the festival presents films from all over the world, whether they are amateurs, professionals, associations or organizations, and for the second year in a row, the Opava Cultural Organization has co-organized it,“ said Patrik Šajtar, the festival's production.

The project is implemented with the support of the Statutory City of Ostrava, the Moravian-Silesian Region and the company OZO Ostrava, s. r. o.
